About the Learning Skills Trust

The Learning Skills Trust is an education charity which exists to foster the development of learning skills in young people. The charity offers two frameworks which cover both junior and senior school years. It engages not only with its members but also across the wider educational community and is a powerful voice for skills development, especially within the independent sector.

The role

The focus of this role is to secure a steady flow of new schools joining the PSB and SDF. The Trustees seek to grow steadily the number of schools involved, as this increases our impact as well as our ability to offer high quality training and support.

Aligned with this is the need to ensure that current members receive first class support. As such the CEO will be responsible for overseeing and managing the work of both of paid staff and a Consultant Team who individually look after a number of schools, acting as first contacts for advice and training.

Essential skills and Qualities

Much of the work of The Learning Skills Trust is based around passion and enthusiasm and the Trustees believe that these qualities must be evident in the CEO. The ability to build and maintain strong relationships at all levels is vital for continued growth and success. Strategic planning and operational management using every member of the teams’ knowledge and expertise to build upon and grow the Trust will be essential.

Background and experience

The successful candidate will be a graduate with experience of working at a senior level within schools and with evidence of having the skills and attitude required. Experience in curriculum innovation and change management would be advantageous.
