The Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum Enterprises Limited, the trading arm of the National Arboretum's charity, is seeking an Independent Non-Executive Director to join our board. This volunteer position offers a unique opportunity to shape the strategy of our on-site gift shop and trading operations, ensuring they continue to generate vital profits that support the development, upkeep, and visitor experience of the Arboretum.
About the Enterprise Board
The Enterprise Board are made up of Directors of the company – we currently have three Directors who are made up of the charity trustees and the fourth vacancy we are looking to fill with an Independent Director. The Enterprise Board report into the Board of Trustees on progress and occasionally for decision making on matters relating to the relationship between the Charity and the Enterprises.
The Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum Charity is the sole ‘member’ of the Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum Enterprises Limited Company.
The Enterprise Board meet for one hour, 5 times a year, the dates are set a year in advance.
As a Non-Executive Director, you will:
• Guide and monitor the performance of our retail operations, ensuring we achieve sustainable growth and profitability.
• Provide strategic oversight and advice to the executive team, helping to enhance the customer experience and maximise revenue.
• Act in the best interest of our stakeholders, ensuring that all profits from the gift shop are reinvested into the Arboretum’s future development.
We are looking for:
• A strong track record in retail management or strategy.
• A proven ability to deliver business growth through exceptional customer experience and operational efficiency.
• A passion for Westonbirt Arboretum and its mission to preserve this extraordinary landscape for future generations.
