Company Overview: Founded in 2014 by CEO Thomas Ryder, Applied Nutrition is a leading sports nutrition, health and wellness brand, dedicated to providing innovative and high-quality solutions with a stated vision to be the most trusted and innovative brand in the industry. The Company is based in Knowsley, Liverpool and employs circa 200 staff. The business sells its products predominately B2B globally through a wide network of distributors and has recently established operations in the US selling directly into specialist retailers and national grocers.
The Company targets a wide range of consumers from professional athletes (in disciplines from Premiership Football to the UFC), right through to health conscious people looking to supplement their diet.
Products are designed, formulated, blended, and packaged in house at the Company’s state-of-the-art facility in the UK which holds accreditations such as BRC AA grade, FDA approval, and ISO 22000. The Company has one of the largest range of Informed Sport products, demonstrating commitment to trust and high quality ingredients and manufacturing processes.
Financials and IPO
The Company’s year-end is 31 July and has grown very quickly, organically and without debt since inception. The impressive growth profile is expected to continue into the future.

Position: Non-Executive Director
Role Overview: Applied Nutrition is seeking an experienced individual to join its Board as a Non-Executive Director (NED). Chairs of the main committees have been appointed, though the role of NED responsible for workforce engagement has yet to be decided upon and the successful candidate will be considered for this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will join the Board in the first half of 2025.
Qualifications and Experience:
Responsibilities
• Participating in a full, formal and tailored induction process on appointment
• Developing and maintaining a good understanding of the main areas and culture of the business
• Where applicable, engaging in Board sub-committee meetings by drawing on their skills, experience and knowledge
• Continually updating skills, knowledge and familiarity with the Company in order to continue to make a positive contribution to the Board and any of its sub-committees on which they serve and to generate the respect of the other directors
• Becoming familiar with and discharging the responsibilities of a director of Applied Nutrition, including statutory duties
• Developing and maintaining a good understanding of the business and its relationships with key stakeholders.
Qualifications, skills and experience
The Board is looking to appoint a Non-Executive Director who will have PLC Board experience, either as a serving member or senior adviser. The relevant skillset will be considered in the context of the skills and experience of existing Board members.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:-
• The highest levels of integrity, honesty, discretion and ethical standards
• The intellectual capability, sound business acumen and ability to critically analyse, assess and comment, both strategically and laterally, on a full range of commercial and governance issues
• An awareness of the commercial and consumer issues relevant to the business
• Strong communication and leadership skills, able to influence Board decisions, delivering messages in a constructive and concise manner.
Director’s fee
The Directors’ fee for the role of NED is £60k pa, plus all reasonable expenses.
Time commitment
Overall, we anticipate a time commitment of two days per month on average for Board and Sub-Committee work. All Board and sub-committee meetings are held at the Company’s HQ in Liverpool. Personal attendance is encouraged, but virtual meetings are accepted as part of the modern working environment.

It is accepted and acknowledged that individuals have other business interests and should
declare any conflicts that they are aware of that may impact on this appointment.
The recruitment process
We understand the importance of the process in terms of influencing a candidate’s perception of the business.
The process is intended to allow both parties to have sufficient time and opportunity to assess cultural and team fit and the balance between the individual’s and organisation’s aspirations. Our objective is to ensure that there is clarity around the role of the NED, the key challenges, opportunities, and priorities.
• The initial discussion will be with Chair Andy Bell and one or more of our other NEDs.
• A short list of candidates will be invited to meet with the Executive Directors and/or other Board members.
After which the successful candidate will be offered the position.
Diversity
It is the Board’s policy for all appointments to be made on merit, in the context of the skills, experience and knowledge which the business as a whole requires to be effective. The selection processes will take into account wider elements of diversity, to ensure the composition of the Board is appropriately balanced to support the strategic direction of the Group.
We recognise the Board is currently lacking in both gender and ethnic diversity, though this remains a key focus to ensure that we comply with best practice. In our prospectus, we have set a target to be compliant with all relevant diversity targets by 2027.
