Exceptional Opportunity to Lead a MAT Driving Innovation at the intersection of Education and the Creative Industries
Day One Trust has a particular mission - to improve access to the UK’s creative industries for young people regardless of their background. We believe we have a responsibility to make the most of this opportunity to unlock the potential of young people to transform lives while building diverse, sustainable, and equitable paths to jobs in the creative industries.
Our two pioneering schools, East London Arts & Music and London Screen Academy, (in Tower Hamlets and Islington respectively) are hubs of creative excellence - within which our 16-19-year-old trainees hone their talents surrounded by professional-standard studios and equipment. We combine theory and practice as they learn from and work with industry giants like YouTube, Working Title Films, and Universal Music Group.
We are looking for someone with the vision, tenacity and ideas to push us further, every day, balancing the operational needs of an academically high-performing Trust, while developing longer-term ambitions of strategic growth and organisational development, all in a spirit of continuous learning and improvement.
The nature of this challenge requires our new CEO to be many things at once. You’ll need to be an accomplished communicator - influencing industry innovators and stretching imaginations across our schools, whilst also delivering entrepreneurial spirit, dynamic pace, and above all else, a positive approach to making things happen.
In order to provide a world-class, specialist education that is accessible for all, the Day One Trust needs to raise funds annually to supplement the DfE's funding. This role will involve engaging, inspiring, and building relationships with potential and existing donors and industry partners.
Experience as a senior leader in education or the creative industries are both desirable, as is a track record of building and maintaining impactful partnerships across sectors. But there is no fixed blueprint – if you’re an exceptional leader, with a deep passion for what we do, then we want to hear from you. Whether currently leading a Trust or aspiring to do so, a clarity of vision for the role Day One Trust can play in impacting our creative industries as well as maximising the possibilities for our Trust will be essential. You will present a growth mindset and a strong track record of strategic leadership experience, delivered with transparency, creativity and drive - and bring a demonstrable commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion as a central tenet of your approach.
