Job Description
As Key Account Director, you will be responsible for both the tactical and strategic development of the account, ensuring an outstanding workplace experience in line with client initiatives.You will oversee resource management, key stakeholder relationships (internal and external), compliance, risk management, and the overall communication and relationship strategy.A strong commercial mindset and business acumen are essential to align customer needs with business objectives.This is a key strategic account for our client, requiring a leader who can excel under pressure and engage confidently with executive stakeholders.If you are a driven, commercially astute professional looking for a high-impact role with a strong profile and a competitive package, this is the challenge for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for operational, commercial, and safety performance of a major Key Account (£44m revenue) across the UK
- Achievement of internal KPIs, including organic growth, CUCB profit %, cash conversion %, cNPS, and accident frequency rates
- Lead, motivate, and direct teams and front-line placemakers
- Foster a strong safety culture with adherence to risk assessment, training, and accident reporting processes
- Maintain and strengthen customer relationships to ensure contract retention and successful negotiations for extensions
- Oversee commercial and financial performance of the account
- Recruit, develop, and establish succession plans for a high-performing management team
- Enhance key account management processes and maintain ADP plans for risks and opportunities
- Identify sales opportunities within existing accounts through growth and cross-selling
- Act as an "Account Champion" to support bid teams in new growth opportunities
- Develop internal networks within our client to foster collaboration and support strategic goals
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Experience running a national key account of similar value (£44m), covering Hard and Soft services across multiple sites
- Ability to command respect, hold a room, and demonstrate strong presence
- If from an integrator background, must have proven people management experience
- Strong relationship management skills with the ability to navigate a cost-driven, tough client
- Not an “alpha” type—must be adaptable, emotionally intelligent, and strategic in approach
- Skilled in dealing with issues in a non-direct, diplomatic manner
- High level of self-awareness and ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships
- Agile and astute, able to manoeuvre within challenging commercial environments
- Comfortable working with and leveraging data to drive performance and efficiency
- Willing to travel and engage with front-line placemakers
