Job Overview
We are in search of an innovative and strategic leader to assume the role of Vice President of College Advancement. This essential position will spearhead the development and philanthropic initiatives that align with the College’s mission. As a vital member of the senior leadership team, you will collaborate closely with fellow Cabinet members to realize the College's advancement objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Provide counsel to the President on all aspects of development and alumni relations. Direct and oversee the comprehensive advancement strategy, encompassing annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, special fundraising initiatives, grants, and capital campaigns.
- Alumni Relations & Community Engagement: Manage all alumni relations activities, establishing strong, enduring connections with alumni and promoting community involvement.
- Fundraising & Development: Drive efforts to identify, nurture, and solicit significant gifts. Partner in developing a holistic fundraising approach and actively engage with external donors, foundations, and collaborators.
- Team Leadership: Guide and mentor the advancement team, fostering a culture of collaboration while ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. Oversee budget development and management.
- Reporting & Analysis: Evaluate and monitor the advancement program’s financial health, ensuring its ongoing vitality through regular giving updates and donor insights. Present progress to leadership and other stakeholders.
- External Relations: Serve as an ambassador and representative for the College, cultivating relationships with corporate partners, community leaders, and donors to enhance the College's philanthropic network.
- Board Collaboration: Act as the liaison to the Board of Trustees, particularly the Advancement and Trustee Committees, facilitating effective communication between the board and the advancement team.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in development and fundraising with a successful track record in major gift solicitation.
- Strong background in strategic planning, staff supervision, and budgeting.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with a talent for relationship-building across diverse stakeholders.
- A demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive culture that respects all backgrounds.
- Deep alignment with the organization's mission and values, particularly the Benedictine principles.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Extensive experience in development and fundraising is essential, alongside a proven success record in securing major gifts.
- Experience in collaborating with diverse stakeholders and managing budgets is also vital.
