Location: Hybrid (Remote with approximately 2 days/month in London and possible travel to Cambridge, Oxford, Edinburgh and other locations)

About the UK Stem Cell Foundation
The UK Stem Cell Foundation (UKSCF) is a registered charity dedicated to advancing stem cell research and therapies for the benefit of patients. By bridging the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical application, the Foundation funds pioneering research and fosters collaboration across the scientific, medical, and commercial sectors.
We are seeking an inspiring and strategic Chief Executive Officer to lead the Foundation into its next phase of growth, innovation, and impact as we implement a new strategy to expand our remit to become build and support the wider community.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement a clear vision and strategy for the UKSCF, aligned with its mission and goals.
Act as an advocate for stem cell research, raising the profile of the Foundation among key stakeholders.
Lead the organisation in identifying and seizing new opportunities for growth, partnerships, and funding.
Governance and Operations
Work closely with the Board of Trustees to ensure robust governance and compliance with charity regulations.
Develop and oversee the implementation of policies, including financial management, risk management, and operational frameworks.
Report regularly to the Board, providing transparent updates on financial and operational performance, risks, and opportunities.
Stakeholder Engagement
Uphold the interests of patients as our key stakeholder.
Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, scientists, clinicians, funders, industry partners, policymakers, regulators, other charities and universities.
Represent the Foundation at events, conferences, and meetings to advocate for its mission and secure new partnerships.
Act as the primary spokesperson for the Foundation, ensuring consistent and impactful communication.
Fundraising and Financial Management
Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including securing grants, corporate partnerships, and individual donations.
Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting to ensure the sustainable growth of the Foundation.
Manage resources effectively, ensuring appropriate utilisation of funding, value for money and alignment with strategic priorities.
Team Leadership
Lead and motivate a small, dedicated team to deliver exceptional results.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the organisation.
Develop talent, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
Candidate Profile
Essential
Proven leadership, ideally at CEO level, experience in a charity, healthcare, research, or related sector.
Strong understanding of governance and regulatory requirements for UK charities.
Demonstrated ability to secure significant funding through grants, partnerships, or and fundraising campaigns.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire diverse stakeholders.
Financial literacy and experience managing budgets, financial planning, and reporting.
Passion for advancing scientific research and delivering measurable societal impact.
Desirable
Experience in the healthcare, life sciences, or research sector, particularly in an organisation focused on translational research or clinical development.
Established network within the scientific, medical, and/or funding communities.
Experience leading organisational change or scaling up operations.

Terms of Appointment
Compensation: £65,000 per annum pro-rated
