Managing Director – EdTech & B2B Payments
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Managing Director to lead a well-established software business operating in the UK education sector. Specialising in cashless catering, identity management, and payment solutions, the company has been at the forefront of innovation for over 20 years, delivering essential software solutions to over 3,000 schools nationwide.
We are seeking an exceptional leader with a proven track record in scaling businesses within the EdTech or B2B payments sector. The ideal candidate will have experience driving year-on-year growth of at least 15%, managing full P&L responsibility, and leading a high-performing senior leadership team, including Operations, Technology, Sales, Insights, and Facilities.
The Role
As Managing Director, you will be responsible for setting and executing the company’s strategic vision, ensuring financial sustainability, and driving operational excellence. This is an opportunity to lead a dynamic and collaborative team, maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders while continuing to innovate within the education technology space.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a clear growth strategy to expand market share and drive sustainable revenue growth.
- Oversee financial planning, ensuring the company meets its revenue and profit targets while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
- Lead a senior leadership team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
- Drive product strategy, ensuring alignment with customer needs and market trends.
- Strengthen relationships with clients, industry partners, and key stakeholders within the UK education and catering sectors.
- Implement strong governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks.
- Champion operational efficiency, ensuring resources are managed effectively to meet business objectives.
What We’re Looking For
- A proven leader with experience managing a software business in the EdTech or B2B payments sector.
- Strong P&L management experience, with a track record of delivering sustained revenue growth (15%+ YoY).
- Experience leading a multidisciplinary senior leadership team, including Operations, Technology, Sales, and Insights.
- Commercially astute, with excellent financial management skills and experience designing performance-driven incentive structures.
- A hands-on, collaborative leader who can engage with customers, partners, and internal teams alike.
- Exceptional strategic planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience driving sales, marketing, and business development initiatives within the corporate, local authority, and education sectors.
- Strong understanding of governance, compliance, and policy frameworks within a software business.
