About Rux Energy
Rux Energy UK Ltd is a start-up that is developing new technologies for hydrogen storage with operations in Australia and the UK. Established in 2023 as a private company, it's advancing patented technology is based on the adsorption of hydrogen into nanoporous advanced materials in a physical process that is energy efficient and safe relative to existing storage methods such as compressing hydrogen to high pressures, liquefying hydrogen on chemically converting hydrogen to forms than can be transported such as to methanol. The storage system addresses a key barrier to the uptake of green hydrogen. Rux Energy is building momentum toward becoming a global category leader within the energy transition, making a significant contribution to net zero abatement in the UK and internationally especially in hard-to-abate sectors such as bulk energy distribution, shipping and maritime operations, heavy trucking, rail, off road vehicles such as those used in mining, and aviation.
The nanoporous advanced materials are manufactured using sustainable processes involving chemical waste streams from other industries and water that is recycled. The technology is currently being scaled in both Australia and the UK with commercial trials expected in the next two years.
Rux Energy operates in Australia and the UK, with university partnerships Australia, Singapore and the UK and with leading UK research institutes including the National Composites Centre, a UK catapult in the development of carbon-fibre composites, the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult and the Connected Places Catapult. The company is seeking a UK Based non-executive director as it enters a new phase of growth and investment.
Rux Energy is purpose driven, committed to making a positive impact on society and the environment through our research, development, commercialisation, manufacturing and services. We are a diverse and inclusive team that is innovating to develop world-leading technology.
